Italian Glamour Comes to Sydney Harbour

Australia’s most prestigious dining precinct, Sydney’s Finger Wharf at Woolloomooloo, is set to get a taste of Italian glamour on the 17th October 2012 with the official opening of the iconic Italian restaurant Criniti's.

Criniti's has become an institution since it first launched in 2003, building up a cult following and reputation for lovingly prepared recipes that reflect authentic cuisine from their origins in Southern Italy. A celebrity favourite, sports stars and television personalities are often seen dining at one of the family’s restaurants, which have become synonymous with delectable cuisine, sensational wines and Italian glamour.

With three restaurants already in tow, Criniti's are set to open their fourth restaurant in one of Sydney’s most prestigious food precincts.

Criniti's is proud to announce acclaimed chef Jason McCauley will head up the new kitchen with a team dedicated to creating fresh, classical Italian fair with a modern twist.

“I am extremely proud to work alongside the passionate Criniti family, with our combined dedication to using only top quality ingredients and cooking techniques,” said McCauley.

The Criniti's are not only passionate about fabulous Italian food and wine, but also the look and feel and detail within their restaurants.

As keen car enthusiasts, for Criniti's Woolloomooloo, the owners have flown in a working Ferrari engine straight from Italy to feature as a permanent fixture within the private dining room.

Keeping with being genuinely Italian, two iconic Ducati motorcycles from Fraser Motorcycles have been suspended above the bar. The Ducati Desmosedici D16RR valued at $104,990 was produced as a limited edition road bike (only 1500 worldwide) and is the closest to being a genuine MotoGP racing bike. Hanging alongside is the 1199 Panigale S Tricolore Superbike, with its ‘Made in Borgo Panigale’ technological excellence and Tricolour livery, perfectly conveying Ducati’s Authentic Italian Performance and Style. The Ducatis and Ferrari engine combined are valued at a quarter of a million dollars - and that’s just the detailing.

The red carpet event kicks off at 6.30pm with 400 VIP guests set to attend, while Melissa Hoyer - lifestyle commentator, editor at large for www.news.com.au and Sunrise regular, will host the red carpet.

“Woolloomooloo wharf has always been a favourite for great food and a good dose of star-spotting. The addition of a strong, authentic and passionate brand like Criniti's will certainly be a welcome addition to Woolloomooloo’s culinary landscape” said Hoyer.

The Woolloomooloo restaurant will be the fourth Criniti's in Sydney, adding to eateries at Castle Hill, Parramatta and Darling Harbour. A fifth restaurant is currently under construction and will open in Manly early 2013.

About Criniti's

Criniti's was born from humble beginnings. Frank Criniti grew up eating traditional Italian food prepared by his Mamma Rosa - the ingredients mainly dictated by the vegetables growing in his dad’s garden which he dedicated so much time cultivating; his pride and joy. An excess of tomatoes meant there was always plenty of sugo for the Napoletana sauce prepared daily. His earliest childhood memories include the smell of simmering garlic, olive oil and fresh tomatoes being cooked in a saucepan. Not to mention the annual backyard rituals of making tomato sauce, salamis and home-made vino - rituals still practiced today by the Criniti family.

One of the most enduring lessons garnered from Frank’s vision was that food and eating is an experience. Like most Italians, Calabrians live to eat. The experience of sharing food with family and friends is one that is very sacred and should be cherished and remembered. It was the experience around the food, particularly sharing with family, that has become the essence of Criniti's and the basis for its mantra of “authenticity” - as per the Criniti'ssaying “When you’re here, you’re family... Salute!”

Frank’s father Papa Cosimo still heads to the markets daily to hand pick the fresh produce to ensure that only the best is served at their restaurants. Mamma Criniti still pops in to the kitchen each day to see each of the chefs and check her family recipes still taste as traditional as they did from when she was growing up. The Criniti family are excited to extend their family tradition to Woolloomooloo and to welcome patrons to their table.

Criniti's also provide premium canapé catering for corporate and special events for all occasions, including pastries and cakes made daily with online ordering delivered straight to your door. Criniti's has recently launched their weddings and events division providing full service event management and catering either offsite or at any of their four restaurant locations.

“L’ospitalita’ del sud e la genuinita’ della sua cucina sono, per noi ristoratori, ancora sacre...” Frank Criniti
