Table almost set for A Taste of Coolum


The table is almost set for one of South East Queensland’s premier food events, A Taste of Coolum, to be held at luxury Sunshine Coast property Palmer Coolum Resort from June 22-24.

The flavours of Chile, fine wines, a degustation world dinner, chefs cooking alfresco and fun on the fairways is just a small taste of what’s in store at the annual gourmets’ extravaganza where this year’s program shapes up as one of the most delicious and irresistible yet.

Attracting dozens of Australia’s top winemakers and hundreds of food and wine aficionados, the three-day festival offers a vast array of indulgent events, where guests can rub shoulders and share ideas with the industry’s most respected names.

This year’s A Taste of Coolum will have a distinctive Latin flavour, with highlights including:

A Night in Chile, Friday 22 June, 7pm – a lively Chilean fiesta in the resort’s Village Square, with dancers in costumes, a visiting guest chef from Chile, and live cooking stations serving barbecue meats, seafood and empanadas; $95 per person including dinner and wines

Winemakers’ Golf Tournament, Saturday 23 June, 10am – with food and wine-tasting stations and prizes; $150 per person including green fees, food and wines

Flavours of Aconcagua, Saturday 23 June, 12 noon – A Chilean wine masterclass in the resort’s McKenzie Grill, hosted by sommelier David Stevens-Castro from Latino Cellar; $95 per person including tasting plates and wines

Pinots of the World Dinner, Saturday 23 June, 6.30pm – a degustation dinner in Eliza’s hosted by well-known winemaker Geoff Merrill, presenting the pinot grape and its variants from around the world; $175 per person including dinner and matched wines

Chefs Alfresco, Sunday 24 June, 12 noon – the key tasting event of the weekend, offering great food and a festive circuit of displays from more than 40 Australian winemakers at the Pavilion; $95 per person including food and wines

Sparkling Garden, Sunday 24 June, 12 noon – complementing Chefs Alfresco, a chance to sample some of the best sparkling wines from around Australia and New Zealand and champagne from France; $25 per person in addition to Chefs Alfresco entry
