Celebrating Rich Traditions at O'Connell's Restaurant Melbourne

Chef Paul Cooper continues to celebrate the rich tradition of exciting and groundbreaking food at the iconic O’Connell’s Centenary Hotel in South Melbourne.

Cooper brings his deft hand to the menu at O’Connells whilst celebrating the wonderful traditions that Melbourne’s original gastro pub has developed over the past two decades.

Luminaries the likes of Greg Malouf, Cath Claringbold, Adrian Richardson and Kurt Sampson have set the benchmark, and Chef Paul Cooper is certainly hitting that right now. As Melbourne venues come and go, O’Connell’s celebrates its longevity in the industry and maintains its consistency that has ensured its success.

“Its exciting to be able to join these iconic Melbourne names as Exec Chef at O’Connell’s and be part of the vibrant culinary tapestry that the venue has developed over such a period of time,” said Chef Paul Cooper. “Its humbling to be part of such a great venue, but at the same time, I know I can continue to be part of the history and tradition the venue is known for,” he continued.

With a new summer menu showcasing Chef Paul Cooper’s vision, combined with those iconic dishes that O’Connell’s is known for, it’s an exciting time for the venue as it celebrates more than 20 years as Melbourne’s first gastro pub.

Sunday Sessions are bringing back the ‘Surf and Turf’ – a variety of options to suit all budgets, Paul is keen to bring the surf and turf into the new millennium with a bang.

O'Connell's is one of Melbourne's dining institutions. In 1990, O'Connell's was at the forefront of the pub "foodie trend" by blending the warmth and informality of a good hotel with award winning food and service.
