Artists Lunch Merricks General Store Mornington Peninsula Friday 27 September 2013

Merricks General Wine Store - Mornington Peninsula EXHIBITION - works by VAYU (Michael Commerford) "Soul Show"

It's a fabulous time of year to visit Merricks General Wine Store, and with Sydney-based artist VAYU's exhibition "Soul Show" on view from 27 September to 6 November, there is more reason to plan a visit.

The solo exhibition is on display at Merricks House - the newly opened colonial house-cum-art gallery, right next door to favourite Peninsula social hub, Merricks General Wine Store.

Vayu's works (HIGH RES image -below) are characterised by their large white canvases, typically depicting a simplistic yet passionately rendered animal portrait. Cows are a favourite signature (and one graces the back wall of the Merricks General Wine Store dining room, as seen above), with the sharp outline of the animal contrasting the monochrome backdrop. Truly unique works, with over 15 canvases on show for this exhibition.

Join Vayu for a special lunch at Merricks General Wine Store where he will discuss his inspiration, travels, and his work. A two course lunch prepared by chef Chris Roberts will be served, along with matched wines from Baillieu.
Tickets - $49 included 2-course lunch, Baillieu wines, and artist's talk

Bookings on (07) 5989-8088

The Merricks General Wine Store cellar door is a relaxed and fun place to taste wines from three of the Peninsula's most distinctive vineyards - Baillieu, Elgee Park + Quealy.

Visitors can happily swirl, sniff and taste across all three vineyards at the one place. The cafe and restaurant serves superb dishes with Chef Chris Roberts at the helm and is a real Peninsula destination.

Merricks General Wine Store is open everyday from 9am – 5pm for wine tasting, breakfast, lunch, all day platters.
