Meet Japanese Knifemaker Saji in Sydney: 25-26 May
Acclaimed Japanese knifemaker Takeshi Saji is coming to Australia to launch a new collection of hammer forged steak knives at Chef's Armoury - Sydney store on Saturday May 25th and Porteno on Sunday May 26th 2013.
Saturday 25th May - Chef's Armoury 2pm - 5pm
Meet Knifemaker Saji and view his upcoming collection of traditionally crafted steak knives amongst a display of Saji's handmade chef knives and hunting knives. Saji-san is a multi-award winning knifemaker who is officially certified as "Dentoukougeishi" - Traditional Master Craftsman by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade & Industry. His passion for crafting knives stemmed from creating hunting knives, but he has recently extended his range to include kitchen knives.
Saji-san's collection of steak knives are hammer-forged in true Echizen Echihamono style, which means no two knives are the same and each has its own unique patterns and details. His handmade knives, hammer-forged one by one in his workshop, will be available for purchase as part of an exclusive collaboration with Chef's Armoury.
Sunday 26th May - Knifemaker's Feast at Porteno
Join Saji-san and Chef's Armoury for an Argentinian Feast at Porteno. The 2-hatted restaurant has been booked out for a special lunch and a presentation of never before seen images and footage of Saji's workshop with a brief insight into the making of a Saji knife.
Saji-san's knives are testament to the Japanese art of knifemaking. Luxurious handle materials are paired with high quality steel to form beautiful pieces that become much more than just kitchen utensils.
