Sails Restaurant Redcliffe Queensland - Review
Sails Restaurant is right by the water at Redcliffe, situated in a funky Art Deco looking building, surrounded by parkland, with an abundance of car parks.
We dined on a Saturday night, where we were welcomed by the ever attentive wait staff, and seated in the fine dining area (comfy plush chairs, rather than the plastic chairs used in the majority of the restaurant). We were promptly given menu’s and offered drinks and water.
We started our meal with the delicious open ciabatta bread and dips to share, the bread was fresh and toasted to perfection, whilst the dips were outstanding and so fresh (the basil was my favourite), and there was enough dip to last until the bread ran out.
Main meals consisted of the Char grilled eye fillet of beef on potato hash with sautéed spinach lashed with a sauce of pearl onions with speck for my companion (with a glass of the Penfold’s Thomas Hyland cabernet sauvignon) and the Lamb special (Lamb shanks gnocchi and ratatouille) for myself. The eye fillet was cooked to specification and the lamb was just falling off the bone. The gnocchi accompanying the lamb was very nice, shame there hadn’t been a touch more. The presentation of both meals was beautiful.
The service of the staff was impeccable - our water and drinks were topped up, we received the correct cutlery, they checked that our meals were okay, offered us cracked pepper and when our lovely waiter (Brett) noticed that our table had a slight wobble- he fixed it straight away.
The desert menu had a great variety and whilst I had plans for the cheese platter, we were just too full after our main meals. I ordered the Chocolate Mousse, served with vanilla cream, raspberries and toffee shards. It too was delicious, very rich and heavy, with the freshness of the cream and raspberries to complement the mousse.
Overall we had a lovely meal, with outstanding service. I would definitely recommend a visit to Sails if you are in the Redcliffe area.
Sails also caters for Breakfast (on Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings) and lunch (Tuesday to Sunday) as well as having a function centre.
