Monaco shares the love with the world


The Wedding:
A delegation from the Monaco Government is in Australia this week to share news of the upcoming wedding of their sovereign Prince Albert II to Charlene Wittstock on July 1st & 2nd 2011. Jean-Francois Gourdon, Director of Communications for the Monaco Government Tourism & Convention Authority held a press briefing outlining plans for the much anticipated wedding and introducing the official website for the wedding. “Often voted most romantic city in the world by the French, Monaco lends itself beautifully for an auspicious occasion such as this, we host many weddings in Monaco large and small, but this will certainly be one to remember.”

The civil ceremony on July 1st will be followed by the religious ceremony on July 2nd to be held in the Courtyard of Honor at the Prince’s Palace where 4,000 people are expected to attend. An official dinner will be followed by a ball at the spectacular Oceanographic Museum.

Monaco’s leading hospitality operator announces international expansion:
The delegation in Australia this week is also accompanied by a representative from Monte-Carlo S.B.M. Hotels & Casinos, Monaco - the French Riviera’s largest hotel, casino and spa operator. S.B.M. Director of Sales & Marketing for Asia Pacific, Benoit Badufle, revealed plans for a series of international ventures marking a new chapter for the group. The company which commenced operations in the mid 19th century and listed on the Paris stock exchange in 1953 is more than ever the commercial and brand face of Monte-Carlo, the glamorous district of Monaco associated with the rich and famous and numerous James Bond movies.
Scheduled openings:
-A Beach Club, all suite rooms property on Saadiyat Island Abu Dhabi, (adjacent to the upcoming Guggenheim Museum) scheduled opening in 2011 and 2012.
-An 83 all suite rooms property with stunning views over the Atlas chain of mountains is due to open in Marrakech in 2013.
-Exclusive French Alps ski resort Courchevel will also welcome a Monte-Carlo S.B.M. 5 star property in 2013.
Further acquisitions are underway in Paris and London.


Princess Grace Exhibition confirmed for Australia in 2012:
After 4 years of negotiations, and with the support of the Victorian Government and the Grimaldi Forum Monaco, an agreement has been reached to bring part of the renowned Princess Grace Exhibition to Australia. The highly successful “Grace Kelly: Style Icon” exhibition has recently closed in London and is touring internationally. In London the exhibition attracted over 200,000 people.

Launching on March 10th, 2012, the collection will be exhibited at the Bendigo Art Gallery in Victoria. A series of special events will be developed in conjunction with the L'Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF). The exhibition, focusing on the fashion and style of icon, showcasing haute couture gowns from Dior, Balenciaga, Chanel and Givenchy as well as other fashion items. Regional Director of Monaco Government Tourist Bureau, Alison Roberts-Brown said “Princess Grace was adored and admired by Australians, she was an influence and an inspiration, we are honored to have this exceptional exhibition coming to our shores”.
