El Questro Homestead named Best Outback Experience at the 2013 Australian Gourmet Traveller Travel Awards

El Questro Homestead has been voted the Best Outback Experience at the 2013 Australian Gourmet Traveller Travel Awards.

The awards were held at the Crown Towers in Melbourne last night amid a distinguished audience of Australia’s travel industry, recognising outstanding Australian tourism operators from the coast to the outback.

El Questro Homestead occupies a pocket of luxury in the Kimberley region in the million acre El Questro Wilderness Park, 110 km from Kununurra.

The luxury nine-room Homestead is dramatically cantilevered over the Chamberlain River, set amid a landscape of salt plains, gorges, hot thermal springs and the backdrop of the Cockburn Ranges.

Lori Litwack, General Manager of El Questro Homestead said: “We are delighted to have been voted the Best Outback Experience. We have a fantastic team of people working here to ensure every visitor has the best experience here at El Questro, so we are thrilled to have been recognised for our hard work and commitment.”

Guests staying at the Homestead can enjoy luxury accommodation in three new stylish Cliff Side Retreats, bringing the total number of suites to just nine at this exclusive property.

The Cliff Side Retreats offer uninterrupted views of the rugged scenery courtesy of the floor-to-ceiling sliding glass walls. From the shower, guests can access either the free standing bath on the verandah or the garden rain shower surrounded by magnificent stone walls that ensure complete privacy.

Dining at the Homestead is enjoyed under the stars, at either of the large communal tables by the pool and on the verandah, or on one of the three private tables by the gorge edge. As a treat, guests can dine at one of the incredibly romantic tables on the edge of the cliff overlooking the Chamberlain River, and with a soundtrack of owls and frogs.

El Questro also played host to Myer Ambassadors Jennifer Hawkins and Kris Smith last week who were on location in the Kimberley for the Myer Spring Summer 2013/14 advertising campaign.
El Questro’s diverse terrain made for the perfect fashion backdrop, ranging from deep gorges to red-rock ranges and sheer cliffs, resplendent with vast mud flats, hidden rainforests, boab trees and thermal springs.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity to be shooting the Myer Spring Summer 2013/14 campaign in such a stunning Australian location,” said Hawkins.
Smith added: “This is my first time here and it’s such an amazing landscape. The location has a great combination of nature, wildlife and adventure. I wish I could spend more time here.”

El Questro Wilderness Park offers four distinct accommodation styles, each different in budget and style, ranging from the award-winning El Questro Homestead to Emma Gorge Resort, the Station Bungalows and Riverside Campground.
