And so the SpecTAPular Continues...
Celebrating the Revolution of Australian Beer.
With the official Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPular 2012 now behind us, the opportunity to sample some of the innovative beers has not been missed. On Saturday 2 June 2012, a selection of GABS beers will be presented at The Local Taphouse in Darlinghurst at their ‘Best of GABS’ event. While in Melbourne, over the next four weeks The Local Taphouse St Kilda East will see more GABS beer flowing through their in-house taps.
As for GABS 2012, overall the event was a triumph. Over the three day festival, four converted shipping container bars served patrons through 240 taps, connected to over 1,200 kegs.
The Yeastie Boys took home the Dan Murphy’s ‘People’s Choice Award’ with their Gunnamatta beer; a citrus explosion with grapefruit and lemon hop flavours intermingling with the pungent bergamot orange and leafy aromatics of the Earl Grey Blue Flower English tea.
Based on the success of this year, planning is already underway for 2013.
